What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is the practice of personalised nutrition and lifestyle medicine, looking at overall health and peak performance. We look at individuals as a whole and assess their overall nutritional balances to understand what might be contributing to their symptoms and health concerns.

We use tools like food assessments, functional tests, diet protocols, supplements and habit forming guides to help clients reach their health goals and make long-lasting, sustainable changes.

Health goals are highly individual, and can range from weight management to disease symptom support, optimal sports function, eating for a healthy pregnancy and more!

There’s increasing focus on a ‘food as medicine’ approach, with evidence-based interventions for both diets and dietary habits in order to optimise health and wellness. This huge boost in the interest around nutrition has been matched with advances in research, often highlighting how unique we all are and that dietary changes work best when tailored to an individual.

What nutritional therapy is not?

I think it’s equally important to understand what nutritional therapy does not do.

We do not diagnose or treat disease, and any recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice. Instead, we work alongside medical professionals to support your wellbeing.

Similarly, we do not take a ‘one size fits all’ approach, as we understand how important it is to recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes.

Is nutritional therapy a replacement for traditional medicine?

Absolutely not! We work closely with GPs, consultants, nurses and other healthcare professionals to support patients. However, nutritional therapists aim to go one step further than managing symptoms - We aim to help you optimise your overall health, for the long term.
